With parallel connectors you can effectively and efficiently complete a wide range of automotive electrical wiring projects. Unlike butt splice connectors, automotive connectors crimps together two wires that are directly touching. Parallel connectors terminate wires that are laid on top of, or next to each other to ensure that the electrical current is being transferred without an additional conduit. These connectors are available in different sizes, and are most commonly used in vehicle applications, although they can be used in various other electrical applications as well. Nonbutted parallel connectors can be crimped anywhere along the barrel. Both insulated and noninsulated types are ideal in applications that do not have room for additional conduit. Most insulated connectors are made of vinyl, which is cost effective but provides minimal protection and has lower operating temperatures than nylon. Most noninsulated parallel connectors are made of copper. Nonbutted versions commonly feature a seamless design and tin plating for increased tensile strength and corrosion resistance.
